Ever thought of participating in a cross-country race on an island? Well, now you can compete in the unique location of Hudayriyat Island, where the inaugural edition of HERO Abu Dhabi takes place.

The destination is situated south of the main Abu Dhabi island and is accessible via Al Bateen.
Hudayriyat Island is home to a wide range of world-class cycling facilities and infrastructure that cater to athletes of all levels. The destination’s well-maintained cycling trails as well as Trail X, the only mountain bike trail in Abu Dhabi that spans 15 km in length with four difficulty levels, make it a prime location for high-profile international cycling events.

Routes description
The racing circuit is located at Trail X, a state-of-the-art mountain biking facility on Hudayriyat Island. The United Arab Emirates is known for its sprawling desert dunes, so it’s only natural that the circuit unfolds on compacted sand trails, set on rough terrain mimicking mountain, desert, and rocks. The constantly winding track boasts a breathtaking view of the sparkling sea and the Abu Dhabi skyline. You will be challenged by different bends, bumps, and ad-hoc obstacles built for the race. No rest for the wicked – and the determined! Due to the flat trails, expect to pick up speed quite quickly. You can cycle side by side on the entire circuit – but fear not, you will still get plenty of opportunities to go for a breakaway! Short and demanding climbs on the main hills of the trail can make for quite a strategic race. Even the crowd can enjoy a great view of the circuit, the race, and Abu Dhabi’s skyscrapers.
