Black Forest

Europe's most atmospheric mountain bike marathon

"Everyone who finishes the ULTRA Bike is a winner." This sentence was coined by Mike Kluge shortly after he won the first edition of the Black Forest ULTRA Bike Marathon in 1997

118 kilometers and over 3,500 meters of altitude characterize the traditional race in the heart of the Black Forest. The race takes place on and around the Feldberg mountain that, with its 1492 meter peak, is the landmark of Germany's largest low mountain range. Join us in the Dreisam-Valley and the Upper Black Forest to be part of this atmospheric marathon classic that attracts around 5,000 mountain bike enthusiasts year after year.

Temperatures in July are usually summery warm, reaching 30°C in the valleys on sunny days. Nevertheless, it can also be cool on the peaks. Depending on the weather, low temperatures of about 10°C are possible as well.

118 KM | 3.550 HM

Men and women both start on the ULTRA course with a distance of 118 kilometers and 3,550 meters of altitude to overcome.

The 2024 HERO Series boasts a total jackpot of € 15,000 for UCI athletes and teams as well as amateurs. The prize and title will be awarded on 22 September 2024 during the final Prize Giving Ceremony during the BIKE SIDE EINSIEDELN FESTIVAL (SUI).

Early registration has many benefits

Setting your goals for the season early on makes training planning easier. "It's always an advantage to spend months preparing for a competition instead of making a last-minute decision and not knowing if you'll make it through at all," says mountain bike pro Simon Stiebjahn, "the fitter you are, the more you can enjoy such a highlight". And a highlight is the Black Forest ULTRA Bike Marathon every year – for the national and international mountain bike family.
