Asia's first and incredibly inspirational mountain bike marathon

2022 HERO THAILAND: POSTPONED

Due to the still difficult and uncertain situation in Thailand caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic and ongoing international travel restrictions, we regretfully inform you we have to postpone the 2022 HERO Thailand which had been scheduled for 12 November.
This wasn’t an easy choice to make, but the health and safety of our athletes, their fans, and the staff of the event comes first.
We want this first edition of the HERO Thailand to be enjoyed to its fullest so that we can celebrate our passion for mountain biking and explore the stunning landscape which will host us.

Chiang Rai, Thailand

Chiang Rai is a well-known destination in northern Thailand and will host the event 2023. The town is a tourist destination thanks to its many attractions, including places of Buddhist worship, and where the White Temple of Wat Rong Khun stands out for its fame and beauty. The temple has become an icon of Chiang Rai for its beautiful whiteness of colour, and which expresses the purity of the Buddha. However, it will be the nature of the landscape which will certainly impress the bikers, who will cycle their marathon in the rainforest around Chiang Rai.

TEMPERATURES

The temperature at CHIANG RAI in November is between 17°- 29°C.

The HERO route in CHIANG RAI starts close to the city of Chiang Rai and develops along the mountains of CHIANG RAI for a length of 65 km and about 1,300 metres in elevation gain. Trails are mainly on dirt road of red soil, submerged in a canopy of lush, green nature unspoilt by mankind. Bikers cycle alongside rice, banana, pineapple and mango plantations and through small villages where agriculture is the main trade. Another shorter route (30 km and 600 hm) will also be available for anyone wanting to experience what it feels like to bike in the rainforest. However, only competing in the 65 km race will qualify you to take part in the HWS circuit. The HERO Village is set up at the departure and arrival area and it is where the HERO Thailand Bike Festival takes place.
